Philadelphia Phillies to reduce J.T. Realmuto's catching duties

Philadelphia Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski announced that catcher J.T. Realmuto will see reduced playing time behind the plate in 2027. Following the team's early playoff exit in the National League Wild Card Series against the Atlanta Braves, the organization is looking to add catching depth this winter to manage Realmuto's workload.

In other MLB news, former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Robbie Ray is set to become a free agent this winter. Ray, who spent the 2026 season with the San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres, finished the year with a 13-8 record and a 3.59 ERA.
