Philadelphia police identify suspect in Chucky mask terror incidents
Philadelphia police have identified 22-year-old Zymire Hughes as the suspect accused of terrorizing pedestrians near City Hall while wearing a Chucky-style doll mask. The incidents occurred on the morning of August 12, during which Hughes allegedly targeted at least six people, appearing to record the encounters on a cellphone.
In one notable incident, Hughes reportedly chased a 40-year-old female jogger, asking her, “Are you ready to die?” The woman fled, causing her to trip and sustain a leg injury. Another woman, Jameka Wilson, used her stage combat training to defend herself by kicking the suspect in the chest after he approached her.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Hughes on charges including terroristic threats, harassment, simple assault, and intimidation. Authorities believe he may have fled Pennsylvania, as he has known ties to California and Nevada. The Philadelphia Police Department is currently working with the U.S. Marshals Service to locate him.
