Mathew Francis Betkouski identified as potential Tylenol murder suspect

Investigators have identified a man with a potential link to the 1982 Tylenol murders in the Chicago area. Dr. Mathew Francis Betkouski, known as the ‘unknown wanderer,’ was found dead in a Boise, Idaho, church in December 1982 after consuming cyanide. Betkouski, who had a history of mental health treatments and worked in a lab where he allegedly took chemicals, was described as a paranoid loner. While police found homemade cyanide among his belongings, they noted it differed from the poison used in the Chicago murders. However, maps of Chicago and photos of Betkouski in the city were discovered among his possessions. Forensic psychiatrist Dr. Park Dietz stated that both forensic psychiatrists and an FBI group considered Betkouski a viable suspect in the case, which saw seven deaths within 24 hours due to cyanide-laced Tylenol.

In separate incidents, a $150 million industrial park project has been announced for the former Greenspoint Mall site in Houston, Texas. The CityNorth Industrial Park is expected to create 300 construction jobs and 1,200 permanent positions.

Other recent criminal activity includes a fatal shooting in Philadelphia where an 18-year-old was killed inside a corner store, and a homicide investigation in northeast Houston. Additionally, authorities in Houston's Third Ward are investigating the discovery of partial human remains at a construction site.
