Philharmonic band festivals held in Águeda and Covilhã

Several philharmonic band festivals are taking place in Portugal, celebrating local musical traditions.

In Águeda, the União de Bandas de Águeda (UBA) Festival will be held on October 4 in Castanheira do Vouga. Supported by the Águeda Municipal Council, the event features six philharmonic bands and hundreds of musicians. The celebration includes a parade of the six bands followed by a philharmonic concert at the local church square.

In Covilhã, the 8th edition of the Joaquim Garra Philharmonic Band Festival is scheduled for September 26. The event involves seven philharmonic bands performing throughout various neighborhoods and streets. A highlight of the festival is the formation of a ‘Mega Banda’, which will bring together more than 250 musicians for a parade through the city's historic center.
