Philip Morris International appoints João Brígido to lead largest global factory

Philip Morris International (PMI) has appointed João Brígido as the director of its Crespellano facility in Bologna, Italy. This site is the company's largest industrial unit globally and serves as a central hub for its strategy regarding non-combustion products.

Brígido, an electrical and computer engineer, transitions to this role from his position as director of the Tabaqueira factory in Portugal. During his tenure at Tabaqueira, he oversaw a period of significant investment and industrial transformation aimed at increasing export production.

Brígido has been with PMI since 1999, holding leadership roles in South Korea, Brazil, the Philippines, and Romania. The Crespellano plant, opened in 2016, was the first PMI facility dedicated to large-scale heated tobacco production and houses the group's largest Industrial Center of Excellence.
