Philip Selway and Live Nation launch mental health fund for touring crews

The Music Industry Therapy Collective (MITC) has launched the ‘Pay It Forward Fund’ to provide mental health support to artists, technicians, and crew members on small and medium-sized tours. The initiative is supported by Radiohead drummer Philip Selway, Live Nation, AEG International, and the Live Free 999 foundation.

Recognizing that touring professionals face heightened risks of stress, anxiety, burnout, depression, and suicidality, the fund aims to bridge the gap for smaller teams that lack the budgets of major productions. The program offers 24/7 confidential online access to mental health professionals in multiple languages, as well as ‘Tour Check-Ins’ to help staff decompress after difficult workdays.

Additional resources include 90-minute consultations with MITC Touring Welfare Officer Sascha Heeney, workshops on healthy touring practices, and access to specialized industry manuals. The fund is designed as a preventative tool to help crews manage pressure before mental health issues escalate into crises.
