Philipp Rösler highlights role of overseas Vietnamese in national soft power

Philipp Rösler, the Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Zug, Switzerland, and former German vice-chancellor, has expressed support for the Politburo’s Resolution No. 23 regarding overseas Vietnamese affairs. He noted that the resolution is expected to elevate the strategic engagement and status of the Vietnamese community living abroad.

Rösler emphasized that the diaspora represents a vital resource for strengthening Vietnam’s national soft power. He suggested that successful overseas Vietnamese, particularly young entrepreneurs and professionals, serve as ambassadors for the nation’s reputation and mindset. He recommended that the government implement mechanisms to connect younger generations of Vietnamese across borders to foster a shared sense of heritage and contribution to the country’s development.
