Philippe Benoit Sought by Quebec Police in Shawinigan Homicide

The Sûreté du Québec is conducting a manhunt for 41‑year‑old Philippe Benoit in connection with a homicide that occurred Sunday morning on 208 Avenue in the Saint‑Georges area of Shawinigan, Mauricie. Benoit is described as 1.66 m tall, 45 kg, with brown hair and brown eyes. Police have asked the public not to approach him and to call 911 with any information.

The investigation has expanded to the nearby Lac‑aux‑Sables area, where officers have carried out land, quad and water searches after locating a vehicle that may have been used by the person of interest. No one was found in the vehicle. Local authorities have reopened nearby parks and beaches but warn that access may be altered as the inquiry continues.
