Philippe Bouvard's Cannes home burglarized during funeral
The residence of prominent French journalist and radio host Philippe Bouvard was burglarized in Cannes on August 31, coinciding with his funeral service. Bouvard, the creator of the long-running radio program ‘Les Grosses Têtes’, passed away on August 24 at the age of 96.
Reports indicate that jewelry and cash worth several tens of thousands of euros were stolen. Investigators from the Cannes police department are looking into whether the perpetrators specifically targeted the apartment due to the known absence of residents during the ceremony. Notably, some reports suggest the theft may have occurred without forced entry, raising questions about how the intruders gained access to the premises.
As of September 5, no arrests had been reported. The investigation continues to determine if the timing was a coincidence or a premeditated act facilitated by public information regarding the funeral.
