Philippe Laffont and Coatue Management increase bets on AI semiconductor supply chain

Philippe Laffont, founder of Coatue Management, has significantly increased his firm’s exposure to the artificial intelligence and semiconductor sectors. According to recent 13F filings, Coatue’s public equity portfolio reached approximately $48.6 billion in the second quarter of 2026.

Laffont is focusing heavily on the semiconductor supply chain, specifically “semi-cap” stocks—companies that provide the capital equipment and materials necessary for chip fabrication. Nearly 23% of the firm’s public equity portfolio is concentrated in a handful of AI-related stocks. Key holdings include Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM), Lam Research (LRCX), Applied Materials (AMAT), Micron Technology (MU), and ASML.

In addition to semiconductor equipment, Laffont’s portfolio saw a major addition in SpaceX, likely through pre-IPO investments. He has expressed long-term optimism regarding the space industry, viewing it as a significant opportunity over the next decade. His investment strategy appears driven by expectations of productivity gains from agentic AI technologies, which move beyond simple chatbots to autonomous systems capable of executing complex tasks.
