Philippine Airlines deploys first wide-body aircraft to Bohol
Philippine Airlines (PAL) launched its first Airbus A330 service to Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA) on October 27, 2026. The wide-body aircraft, operating flights PR1771 and PR1772 between Manila and Bohol, carried a total of 340 passengers during its first rotation.
The deployment increases passenger capacity on the Manila-Bohol route ahead of the year-end travel season. PAL is the second major airline to operate wide-body aircraft at BPIA, following Cebu Pacific.
According to Aldwin Uy, general manager of Aboitiz InfraCapital Bohol Airport Corp. (ABAC), the expansion is supported by recent upgrades to the airport’s firefighting and rescue capabilities. The increased capacity is expected to benefit local communities, including hotels, tour operators, and small enterprises, while supporting the province’s tourism initiatives.
