Philippine Ambassador opens exhibition of Pakistan’s cultural heritage

The 16th Annual Photo Exhibition of the Rawalpindi‑Islamabad Photo Journalists Association, in partnership with AL Sadat Group, was held at the Pakistan National Council of Arts. Titled “Culture & National Heritage of Pakistan – Our Identity, Our Pride,” the show featured works by 85 photojournalists from the twin cities.

Chief guests included Federal Minister for Culture & National Heritage Aurangzeb Khan Kachhi, Senator Talha Mahmood, Sadat Group chairman Syed Sadat Shah and Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez. Kachhi announced a PKR 500,000 grant for the association and a forthcoming MoU with RIPJA, while Mahmood pledged equipment for a media room. Sadat Shah disclosed an annual PKR 300,000 grant and photography courses for RIPJA members. The ambassador expressed delight at Pakistan’s heritage and said the embassy would cooperate on a similar exhibition showcasing Philippine culture.

Highlighted heritage sites in the photographs included the Ban Faqiran Stupa, Pharwala Fort and Mai Qamro Mosque.
