Philippine firms SMFB and SMPC report modest first‑half earnings growth
San Miguel Food and Beverage Inc. posted a 2% rise in first‑half 2026 revenue to ₱205.3 billion, driven by a 5% increase in its Food segment that offset a 1% decline in beer sales. Net income fell 4% to ₱22.1 billion, while operating income slipped 4% to ₱28.8 billion. Chairman Ramon S. Ang said the business remained resilient despite softer consumer spending and supply‑chain pressures.
Semirara Mining and Power Corp. recorded a 2% increase in net income to ₱8.58 billion and a 9% rise in revenue to ₱34.02 billion. The power division contributed ₱4.6 billion, or 96% of earnings, thanks to record generation of 1,563 GWh and a 29% jump in average selling price. Coal output fell 55% to 2.5 million MT, and shipments declined 13%, reflecting operational constraints at its Narra and Acacia mines.
