Philippine institutions conduct Gender and Development outreach and training
Educational and government institutions in the Philippines are conducting initiatives to promote Gender and Development (GAD) through community outreach and personnel training.
Guimaras State University (GSU) held a joint outreach program with the GSU Federated Alumni Association Inc. focused on “Legal and Medical Empowerment.” The initiative provided gender-responsive healthcare, medical consultations, and accessible legal counseling to the university community and stakeholders at the Salvador Campus.
In Nueva Vizcaya, an orientation on basic GAD concepts was conducted for provincial personnel and the Gender and Development Focal Point System–Technical Working Group. Facilitated by Nueva Vizcaya State University, the session aimed to strengthen gender awareness by discussing the distinctions between sex and gender, addressing gender stereotypes, and examining the gender division of labor to promote a more inclusive and equitable workplace.
