Philippine universities launch new environmental sustainability initiatives

Philippine state universities are expanding their environmental and sustainability initiatives through new partnerships and institutional programs.

Central Philippines State University (CPSU) has entered into several agreements with government agencies, civic groups, and religious organizations to advance forest restoration and community-based conservation. Key partners include the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kabankalan, and the Negros Nine Human Development Foundation Inc. These collaborations aim to support reforestation, scientific research, and sustainable community development in Negros Occidental, including the development of an environmental learning sanctuary.

Pangasinan State University (PSU) has launched the ‘GreenPSU’ initiative to strengthen its commitment to environmental stewardship. The program focuses on implementing waste management and pollution control policies across all campuses. The initiative emphasizes responsible consumption, resource conservation, and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility among the university community.
