Philippines and ASEAN featured at Berlin business breakfast

The German Global Trade Forum Berlin hosted a business breakfast in Berlin focused on the Philippines and the broader Southeast Asian region. The event, held at the International Club Berlin, aimed to foster dialogue and cooperation between Germany and the ASEAN region.

Philippine Ambassador to Germany Maria Teresa Torres Almojuela participated in the discussions, which covered economic cooperation, vocational training, security issues, and the importance of cultural exchange. As the current rotating chair of ASEAN, the Philippines presented opportunities for closer collaboration within the Pacific region to the German business community.

Key topics included the framework for economic cooperation, with Nicanor S. Bautista, Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy, presenting on current conditions. The discussions also highlighted the significance of skilled labor, noting the presence of 2,000 Philippine employees at the Charité hospital in Berlin.
