Philippines and Slovakia establish bilateral labor cooperation mechanism
The Philippines and the Slovak Republic have established a bilateral Labor Consultation Mechanism to enhance labor relations and protect workers’ rights. The agreement was formalized through a Joint Communiqué signed by Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac and the Slovak Ambassador to the Philippines, Miloš Koterec.
The new framework is designed to facilitate ongoing dialogue, the exchange of labor market intelligence, and the streamlining of recruitment processes. Key areas of focus include the mutual recognition of qualifications and credentials, as well as a shared commitment to ethical recruitment practices.
Secretary Cacdac noted that the partnership aligns with directives from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen labor agreements with host countries for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). Ambassador Koterec expressed optimism that the mechanism would create tangible benefits for both economies and foster closer ties through education, culture, and business.
