Philippines approves sanitary certificates for Colombian beef and pork
The Philippines has approved the veterinary sanitary certificates required for the export of Colombian beef and pork. This decision marks a significant step in Colombia's strategy to internationalize its agricultural sector and access Asian markets.
The approval allows Colombian producers to proceed with import permit applications for establishments and products that meet the specific sanitary requirements established by Philippine authorities. This follows technical negotiations between the sanitary authorities of both nations to ensure high standards and protect the sanitary status of the Philippines.
Agriculture Minister Indalecio Dangond Baquero noted that the Philippines represents a market of over 115 million consumers. The initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA), Invima, and the Colombian Embassy in the Philippines, aimed at generating employment and economic opportunities for rural families.
