Philippines arrests nine foreigners for illegal online gambling in Pasay condo

The Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI) conducted an intelligence‑driven operation on July 22 at a condominium tower on Sunrise Drive in Barangay 76, Pasay City. Nine foreign nationals were detained – eight Chinese men in their late 20s to early 30s and a 33‑year‑old Vietnamese man – for allegedly running an illegal online gambling hub inside the residential units. One Chinese individual was found to have overstayed his visa, while four others had no entry record in the BI database, suggesting illegal entry. All nine failed to produce valid passports or immigration documents. BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said the detainees will be held at the agency’s warden facility pending deportation proceedings, underscoring the bureau’s commitment to remove foreign nationals who violate immigration laws and engage in unlawful activities.
