Philippines' Bureau of Immigration rescues two women from trafficking at NAIA

The Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI) intercepted two Filipino women at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on July 23 and July 24. The 39‑year‑old initially said she was traveling alone to Malaysia, but later admitted she was bound for Pakistan to work as a cleaner. The 25‑year‑old claimed she was heading to Thailand, yet revealed her destination was Myanmar where she had been promised a US$1,500 monthly salary as an online‑gaming hub worker.

Both women were turned over to the Inter‑Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) for assistance and investigation, and the BI urged the public to report suspected trafficking through the IACAT hotline 1343.
