Philippines CICC flags 12 Facebook accounts for illegal gambling promotion
The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) in the Philippines has identified 12 Facebook accounts and pages for allegedly promoting unregulated online gambling websites. This advisory represents the seventh and final batch of the agency’s ongoing review of social media promotions.
The flagged accounts possess significant reach, with some reaching millions of followers. The largest account, ‘Never Grow Old 2.0’, has 6 million followers, followed by ‘Kanene in Florida’ with 5.6 million, and ‘Boss Nethjan’ and ‘Brex TV 2.0’ with 3.2 million each. Other identified accounts include ‘Magda’, ‘Boss Owa 2.0’, and ‘Parengtol 5.0’, with follower counts ranging from 203,000 to 1.5 million.
The CICC linked these accounts to 11 specific gambling websites, including 777ny.com, leopardaga.com, and sealjl.net, among others. The agency cited potential violations of Philippine gambling and cybercrime laws, noting that the high follower counts provide these promotions with a wide social media reach.
