Philippines' coastal ecotourism in Cebu and Camarines Sur boosts sustainable tourism

The Bojo River Cruise in Aloguinsan, Cebu, is a community‑run ecotourism attraction managed by the Bojo Aloguinsan Ecotourism Association (BAETAS). Visitors travel a mangrove‑lined river, learn about coastal ecosystem protection, and can enjoy cultural activities such as traditional meals, pandan weaving demonstrations and snorkeling at the river mouth. Entrance fees start at ₱20, with cruise packages ranging from ₱400 to ₱999 per person.

In Camarines Sur, the coastal villages of Cagsao (Calabanga) and Itangon (Bula) are being positioned as peripheral gateways to a hub‑and‑spoke tourism circuit centred on Naga City. Scholars propose linking these sites to national, regional and local gateways to channel tourist flows, attract investment in eco‑lodges, mangrove tours and local food products, and create sustainable livelihoods. The strategy aims to integrate the villages into mainstream tourism while preserving their natural and cultural assets.
