Philippines Department of Agriculture launches livestock data platforms

The Philippine Department of Agriculture (DA) has soft-launched two new data platforms, the Animal Management Information System (AMIS) and the Livestock Registry System (LRS), to improve decision-making within the livestock sector. These systems aim to consolidate administrative data from four major agencies: the Bureau of Animal Industry, the Philippine Carabao Center, the National Dairy Authority, and the National Meat Inspection Service.

Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. stated that the integration of data will allow the government to monitor production, animal health, and disease response more effectively. The AMIS will act as a central repository for information ranging from municipal to national levels, covering topics such as vaccination, supply and demand, trade, and disease tracking. A more comprehensive launch of these systems is targeted for 2027.

In the Davao Region, DA 11 is also working with local government units and industry stakeholders to identify production gaps and implement interventions to sustain livestock growth. These efforts focus on aligning government resources with the specific needs of local producers to build a more resilient sector.
