Philippines Department of Agriculture returns to Asia Fruit Logistica

The Philippine Department of Agriculture (DA) has returned to the Asia Fruit Logistica trade show in Hong Kong after a nearly ten-year absence. The delegation, led by Undersecretary Philip C. Young, participated in the event held from September 2 to 4 to connect local fruit exporters with international buyers and distributors.

Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel emphasized that the initiative aims to reduce the country’s annual agricultural trade deficit, which stands at approximately USD 11 billion. By opening more overseas markets for high-value export crops, the DA seeks to increase farmer income, improve rural community stability, and enhance the global competitiveness of Philippine agriculture.
