Philippines DepEd achieves 100% textbook title procurement

The Philippine Department of Education (DepEd) has achieved 100% procurement of all 105 required textbook titles for public elementary and secondary schools. This milestone follows a directive from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to improve access to quality education.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara noted that the achievement addresses previous bottlenecks identified by the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II), which reported that only 27 out of 88 required titles were procured between 2014 and 2023. Under new guidelines established by DepEd Order No. 008, s. of 2025, the department implemented strict timelines, mandatory blind content evaluations, and the removal of repetitive review stages to accelerate the process.

The procurement covers learning resources for various curriculum phases, including Grades 1, 4, 7, and Senior High School for 2024, with subsequent grades scheduled for 2025 and 2026.
