Philippines DepEd expands Adopt-a-School program with digital donor platform and Khan Academy partnership
The Department of Education (DepEd) unveiled a new digital platform in Bacolod City on July 30 to link private donors with public schools participating in the Adopt‑a‑School programme. The system lets companies, civic groups and other organisations identify priority projects—such as classroom construction, school‑safety upgrades and senior‑high work‑immersion programmes—track contributions and view tax‑incentive details under the Adopt‑a‑School Act. DepEd reported that 192 organisations are already supporting education initiatives nationwide, and the roadshow will continue to Mindanao and Luzon.
Separately, Alsons Development and Investment Corporation partnered with Khan Academy Philippines under the same programme in Davao City. Through memoranda of agreement signed at three elementary schools, Alsons Dev supplied 128 tablets, three years of internet connectivity and teacher‑training support. The initiative, led by Alsons Dev President and CEO Miguel Rene A. Dominguez and DepEd Region XI officials, aims to enhance technology‑enabled learning in the beneficiary schools.
