Philippines DOE releases qualified bidders for waste-to-energy auction
The Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) has released the list of 11 qualified bidders for its special Green Energy Auction Round for Waste-to-Energy (WTE). The list includes 14 potential bids from entities such as Green Atom Renewable Energy Corporation, Manila Integrated Environment Corporation, and the City Government of Davao.
In related developments, the Davao City Council has authorized the release of P11 million from the city’s General Fund to cover a required bid bond for a proposed 11-megawatt WTE facility. The city intends to evaluate the viability of the project during a virtual pre-bid conference scheduled for September 15, 2026, before submitting the bond by the September 23 deadline.
The DOE’s special auction round, which launched in late 2025, targets a total capacity of 230 megawatts for thermal combustion WTE technology, with delivery expected between September 2028 and March 2029.
