Philippines DTI guarantees stable prices for essential goods until 2026
The Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has assured consumers that prices for monitored Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities (BNPCs) will remain stable until December 31, 2026. This commitment applies to 190 stock-keeping units (SKUs) included in the agency’s official Suggested Retail Price (SRP) bulletin.
Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina A. Roque issued the statement to address public concerns regarding the potential impact of El Niño on the availability and cost of essential goods. Secretary Roque stated, “There will be no price increase for basic necessities and prime commodities under DTI’s supervision until December 31, 2026. We assure the public that manufacturers and retailers have guaranteed enough supply for these listed products. There is no need for panic buying or hoarding.”
The DTI clarified that the price freeze specifically covers items on its official monitoring list and does not extend to all goods sold in retail outlets. To maintain transparency, the updated SRP bulletin is available via in-store postings in supermarkets, the official DTI website, and social media channels. The agency is continuing to coordinate with manufacturers and retailers to monitor inventories and ensure steady deliveries nationwide.
