Philippines economic optimism rebounds to +10 in June 2026 survey
A recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey conducted from June 20 to 29, 2026, indicates a rebound in economic sentiment among Filipino adults. The net economic optimism score rose to +10, which falls within the SWS “fair” range, marking a 24-point improvement from the -14 recorded in March 2026.
According to the poll, 33% of respondents believe the economy will improve over the next year, while 32% expect it to remain unchanged and 24% anticipate a deterioration. This represents the first significant recovery after a period of decline that saw optimism levels drop from “excellent” and “very high” levels seen between 2021 and 2024.
Regional data shows varying levels of sentiment. Balance Luzon reported the highest net optimism at +18, followed by the Visayas at +6 and Mindanao at +4. Metro Manila was the only region to record a negative net optimism score of -6. Notably, the survey found that respondents with no formal education or those who did not finish elementary school reported the highest levels of optimism, a shift from previous years when college graduates were typically the most optimistic group.
