Philippines electric vehicle sector sees infrastructure calls and retail expansion

The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) is advocating for the expansion of charging infrastructure beyond major urban centers to facilitate nationwide electric vehicle (EV) adoption. During a meeting with Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian, EVAP emphasized that deploying charging stations in provinces and along major transport routes is essential for making EVs practical for long-distance travel.

EVAP also discussed potential updates to the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA) to better address growing market demand. The group noted that rising fuel prices are driving more Filipinos to consider electric alternatives.

In a parallel development in the retail sector, electric vehicle manufacturer YADEA has expanded its Philippine presence by opening three flagship stores in Cebu. This expansion, conducted in partnership with financial service provider M Lhuillier, aims to strengthen the brand's distribution in Central Philippines and move beyond its previous concentration in Metro Manila and northern regions.
