Philippines expands Michelin Guide recognition for culinary and hospitality sectors
The Philippines is leveraging expanded Michelin Guide recognition to bolster its culinary tourism industry. The 2027 edition of the guide has increased its count to 127 recognized restaurants across Manila, Cebu, and surrounding areas, up from 108 in the previous year.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. stated that the growing international interest in Filipino cuisine offers an opportunity to attract more visitors and support local farmers, fisherfolk, and small enterprises. Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay noted that culinary travelers typically spend three times more and stay longer than standard leisure tourists.
In the hospitality sector, the 2026 Michelin Key selections highlight nine hotels in the Philippines. NUSTAR Hotel Cebu is the sole recipient of a Michelin Key in Cebu. The country’s first Two-Key properties include El Nido Resorts Lagen Island in Palawan and Raffles Makati.
