Philippines ex‑Speaker Martin Romualdez vows to face complaints in flood‑control probe

The Philippine Bureau of Immigration affirmed that it did not disseminate false or misleading information regarding alleged travel plans of former Speaker Martin Romualdez. The agency said reports referenced a supposed trip in April 2026 that never occurred and that its responses were limited to legitimate media inquiries.

Romualdez’s camp said the lawmaker is prepared to answer any complaints filed against him as the Office of the Ombudsman’s special panel conducts a preliminary investigation. The probe targets possible plunder, bribery, graft and violations of the Anti‑Money‑Laundering Act linked to a flood‑control controversy. Romualdez’s spokesperson expressed confidence that the evidence will support his side and urged the public to let the legal process run its course.
