Philippines hosts 14th Electric Vehicle Summit to boost ASEAN mobility

The 14th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) commenced on October 22 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay. Organized by the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP), the event aims to advance electric mobility within the Philippines and foster cooperation across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

EVAP reported significant growth in the sector, noting that from January to July 2026, electric vehicle sales rose 136.4% to 38,286 units. Battery electric vehicle sales specifically saw an increase of approximately 300%. EVAP President Willy Tee Ten highlighted that transitioning to electric mobility is a matter of economic and national security due to volatile global oil prices and fuel import dependency.

The summit features over 15 vehicle brands showcasing passenger cars, SUVs, commercial vehicles, and two-wheelers. Lexus is among the participants, displaying the RZ fully electric SUV and the ES hybrid luxury sedan. The event also includes demonstrations of charging solutions for homes, businesses, and fleets.
