Philippines launches initiative to commercialize university research

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) have launched the Innovation Blueprint of Higher Education. This national initiative seeks to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world commercial application by creating a roadmap for technology development, product creation, and funding across Philippine universities.

Ateneo de Manila University is serving as a key benchmarking institution for the study. Researchers from the CHED delegation have visited Ateneo facilities, including the Ateneo Research Institute of Science and Engineering, to study intellectual property practices and research policies.

In support of these academic goals, Ateneo de Manila University recently held an Open House for its Office of the Assistant Vice President for Research, Creative Work, and Innovation (OAVP RCWI). The event provided researchers and creatives with direct access to services regarding intellectual property, publication, research integrity, and innovation support to help move ideas from concept to impact.
