Philippines LTO intensifies bus inspections for Undas 2026

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has launched nationwide roadworthiness inspections and safety operations across the Philippines to prepare for the Undas holiday period. Under the banner of ‘Oplan Biyaheng Ayos–Undas 2026’, the initiative aims to ensure passenger safety as millions travel to provinces for All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day.

In Metro Manila, LTO inspection teams conducted sweeps across major terminals in Manila, Parañaque, and Caloocan. Out of 52 passenger buses inspected between October 24 and 25, 51 passed all safety requirements. One unit was grounded due to defects including a broken reverse light, a malfunctioning license plate light, and an expired fire extinguisher.

In the Davao Region, LTO-Davao has implemented ‘Oplan Ligtas Biyahe Undas 2026’ in coordination with the LTFRB, Philippine Coast Guard, and local police units. The regional operation includes terminal inspections, roadside checks, and random driver sobriety testing. LTO-Davao officials emphasized traffic discipline and inter-agency cooperation to prevent road crashes during the high-volume travel period.
