Philippines: Marcos visits energy training center as classroom construction expands

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. visited the Global Technical Center of Excellence (GTCOE) in Batangas to mark the facility's first anniversary. The center, a collaboration between AboitizPower and JERA, serves as a training hub for the energy industry. To date, the GTCOE has trained 2,000 participants, providing technical expertise and hands-on experience at various power facilities.

Separately, Education Secretary Sonny Angara announced plans to begin groundbreaking for approximately 34,000 new classrooms this year. This initiative aims to address the national classroom deficit, which currently stands at an estimated 140,000 units. The project includes 18,000 classrooms under the Department of Education and 16,000 through public-private partnerships, supported by an allocation of approximately P60 billion.
