Philippines prepares for 49th ASEAN Summit with road closures and training
The Philippines is implementing various preparatory measures for the 49th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings, scheduled to take place in Metro Manila in November 2026.
In Pasay City, the local government has announced temporary road closures to facilitate security and logistics. Partial closures around the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) will begin on October 24, with full closures scheduled from November 9 to November 20. Motorists are advised to avoid Macapagal Boulevard, the World Trade Center area, Diokno Boulevard, and parts of Roxas Boulevard. Additionally, designated bus lanes will be converted into ASEAN lanes to prioritize official delegations.
Simultaneously, the Department of Tourism (DOT) is conducting specialized training for tourism frontliners. The program focuses on the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) to ensure high-quality hospitality for international delegates and visitors. As of October 19, the DOT has trained 244 individuals across seven batches to prepare for the regional conference.
