Filipino workers injured in Saudi Arabia attacks

Seven Filipino workers have been injured in recent attacks across Saudi Arabia, with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reporting that three are in critical condition. The injuries follow a strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on October 10, which reportedly resulted in at least 12 to 13 deaths and over 300 injuries.

The Philippine government is actively managing the repatriation of affected overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). A first batch of 34 workers arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport on October 19, and approximately 265 more are scheduled to return home by October 25 due to flight disruptions and safety concerns. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) are coordinating medical and financial assistance for those affected.

In response to escalating tensions involving Iran-aligned Houthi forces, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate General in Jeddah have issued advisories urging the Filipino community to remain vigilant. The DFA has called for an end to hostilities, stating that the attacks pose a grave threat to regional peace and stability.
