Philippines wins 25 medals at SEAFF fencing championships

The Philippine national fencing team secured 25 medals at the Southeast Asian Fencing Federation (SEAFF) Junior and Cadet Championships held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The haul included five gold, seven silver, and 13 bronze medals.

Oscar del Castillo headlined the performance, winning gold in the cadet men’s epee with a 15-8 victory over Vietnam’s Do Dang Khoi, after previously earning silver in the junior men’s epee. In the team competitions, the Philippines captured four gold medals, including the junior women’s foil title won by Willa Galvez, Victoria Ebdane, and Jodie Tan, and the cadet women’s foil gold featuring Ebdane, Tan, Yuna Canlas, and Hagia del Castillo.

Other individual medalists included Willa Galvez, who took bronze in the junior women’s foil, and Hagia del Castillo, who earned silver in the cadet women’s foil. Additional bronze medals were awarded to Don Geronimo (cadet men’s epee), Jethro Chan (cadet men’s foil), and Papina Torre (cadet women’s epee).
