Philippos Kambouris detained in Greek state fraud case

Philippos Kambouris, the leader of the LAOS party and a television presenter, has been taken into custody following his appearance before authorities regarding a fraud case involving the Greek state and e-EFKA.

Kambouris's legal counsel has characterized the pretrial detention as ‘unjust.’ The defense argues that Kambouris acted as a ‘silent partner’ in various companies, serving as the true owner while using other individuals as managers to maintain a low profile. The lawyer further contended that the companies involved—which operated in sectors such as entertainment, telecommunications, catering, and clothing—were legitimate businesses with active turnover, and that the issue involves owed funds rather than a fraudulent intent to steal.

In addition to Kambouris, his wife and three other individuals suspected of being members of the ring have also been detained. The defense emphasized that Kambouris posed no flight risk and had no intention of concealing evidence.
