Philips and Imricor launch cardiac interventional MR lab solution

Royal Philips and Imricor Medical Systems have launched a new Interventional MR (iMR) lab solution designed for cardiac intervention. The system integrates Philips’ 1.5T MRI platform with Imricor’s MR-compatible electrophysiology systems and consumables, such as the NorthStar iMR mapping and guidance system and Vision-MR catheters.

The solution aims to provide an alternative to traditional cardiac ablation procedures that rely on X-ray fluoroscopy. Unlike X-ray methods, which offer limited soft-tissue visualization and expose staff and patients to ionizing radiation, the iMR solution enables real-time catheter tracking and electroanatomical mapping within a radiation-free MR environment. This allows clinicians to assess lesion formation and treatment response during the procedure.

The technology utilizes Philips’ BlueSeal helium-free MRI technology to reduce siting complexity. The system is commercially available immediately in CE-marked markets and is scheduled to be showcased at the ESC Congress 2026 in Munich.
