Philips Lumea IPL devices offer at-home hair reduction

Philips offers several Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) devices designed for at-home hair reduction, including the Lumea 9900 IPL BRI987 and the Lumea Advanced models. These devices work by delivering controlled pulses of broad-spectrum light that the hair pigment absorbs, encouraging hair to enter a resting phase.

The Lumea 9900 IPL BRI987 is designed for large surface areas, providing 450,000 light impulses. It features a SmartSkin sensor with five intensity levels and includes attachments for the body, face, and a combined attachment for the bikini zone and underarms. It can be used both corded and wirelessly.

General features of the Lumea series include integrated UV filters and companion apps to assist with skin analysis, treatment scheduling, and progress tracking. While these devices are effective for gradual hair reduction in adults with dark blonde to black hair and light to dark brown skin tones, consistent adherence to treatment schedules is required to see results.
