Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber to star in 2026 Home Run Derby in Philadelphia

The 2026 MLB Home Run Derby will take place on Monday, July 13 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia and will be streamed live on Netflix. The Philadelphia Phillies have secured two hometown participants: first‑ baseman Bryce Harper and designated hitter Kyle Schwarber, marking the first time two active Phillies will compete together in the Derby. Harper, who won the event in 2018 at Nationals Park, hopes to become the first player to win it twice at his home ballpark and the fifth player overall to win multiple Derbies. Schwarber entered the competition leading the major leagues with 32 home runs.

The eight‑man field also includes New York Yankees first baseman Ben Rice, Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Junior Caminero, Kansas City Royals pitcher Jac Caglianone, Boston Red Sox catcher Willson Contreras, St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker, and Chicago White Sox slugger Munetaka Murakami. The Derby uses a new swing‑based format: 20 swings in the first round, 15 swings in the semifinals and final, replacing the previous timed format. Harper has suggested allowing aluminum bats during the gold‑ball bonus round, a proposal that has drawn media attention but has not been adopted.

The event is part of All‑Star Week, the first All‑Star Game hosted by Philadelphia in three decades, and is expected to draw a large local crowd eager to see the two Phillies stars battle the league’s power hitters.
