Phillip Cooke organ music released via Regent Records

Regent Records has released a new disc featuring the solo organ music of Phillip Cooke. The recording, catalogued as REGCD595, was captured on the organ at Blackburn Cathedral and performed by Ed Jones.

Cooke’s compositions are noted for their connection to the landscape of the Lake District, utilizing a harmonic language rooted in the pastoral English tradition. The performance by Ed Jones utilizes the specific resources of the Blackburn organ, including its resonant pipework and the 32ft Serpent pedal stop, to evoke atmospheric qualities such as mist and shifting light.
