Phillip Phillips claims American Idol contestants are scouted

Phillip Phillips, the Season 11 winner of ‘American Idol’, has claimed that certain contestants on the show do not undergo the same audition process as others.

Speaking to Taste of Country, Phillips stated that some participants are scouted by individuals connected to the production. He noted that these recruited contestants were essentially “guaranteed they were going to make it to a certain level,” a revelation he described as mind-blowing.

Phillips, who auditioned in 2012 primarily due to encouragement from his parents rather than a desire for fame, contrasted his experience with the high-stakes environment of the competition, which he likened to the ‘Hunger Games’ due to the intense drive of other contestants to win.
