Philosophy Conferences in Vigo address AI and science
The 30th edition of the Philosophy Conferences has commenced in Vigo under the theme ‘Philosophy and science: current challenges of society’. During the event, AI researcher Amparo Alonso delivered a lecture focusing on the innovation and responsibility inherent in artificial intelligence.
In a separate discussion regarding the evolution of technology, content creator Carlos Santana Vega, known as DotCSV, addressed the distinction between Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Santana Vega noted that the term ‘Machine Learning’ is becoming increasingly archaic, similar to ‘Big Data’. He explained that while AI serves as an umbrella term for machines performing tasks associated with intelligence, Machine Learning is a specific subfield where machines acquire the ability to learn patterns rather than following strictly programmed logic.
