Phishing scams target credit card data via fake points and fine notices

Fraudulent messages are circulating via SMS to steal personal information and credit card data. These scams typically impersonate well-known services through deceptive links.

One method involves fake notifications regarding Altice loyalty points that are allegedly about to expire. The scam uses a look-alike URL to direct users to a catalog of gifts, where they are prompted to pay a small shipping fee by entering their credit card details.

A second variation involves messages claiming the recipient owes a traffic fine. These messages use deceptive links that mimic official transit authorities to trick users into making payments.

Security experts recommend distrusting unexpected messages regarding prizes, expiring points, or debts. Users are advised to verify any such notices through official company channels rather than clicking provided links. If credit card information has already been shared, individuals should contact their bank immediately to block the card.
