Phishing scams target DKB and PayPal customers in Germany

Consumer protection agencies are warning of widespread phishing campaigns targeting customers of Deutsche Kreditbank (DKB) and PayPal in Germany.

In the DKB scam, fraudulent emails use the subject line “+SPAM+ Information: DKB-Konto nicht aktualisiert” to claim that accounts have not been updated. The messages threaten to restrict account access within 72 hours unless the recipient clicks a link to perform an update. Indicators of the fraud include inconsistent formal and informal greetings, an unprofessional sign-off such as “dein Team,” and high-pressure tactics.

Similarly, PayPal users are receiving emails claiming that accounts are undergoing review. These messages threaten account deletion within 24 hours if login credentials are not confirmed via a provided button. Experts advise users to ignore these emails, avoid clicking any links, and delete the messages immediately to prevent the theft of sensitive data and funds.
