Phnom Penh is undergoing a cultural transformation as a new generation of architects, chefs, and artists works to revitalize the Cambodian capital. Historically viewed by many travelers as a transit point between major landmarks like Angkor Wat or a city marked by its wartime past, the city is shifting its identity.

Central to this vibrant atmosphere is the riverside Walking Street located between the Tonlé Sap and the Mekong River. This pedestrian stretch of the riverside quay, including areas like Sisowath Quay, serves as a lively social hub every evening. The area features a diverse array of street food vendors offering everything from candied fruit and fermented milk drinks to grilled meats, spicy salads, and snails, creating a bustling nocturnal economy and a concentrated display of local life.
