Phoenix Contact launches self-service AAS product data API

Phoenix Contact has introduced self-service access to structured product data via an Asset Administration Shell (AAS) API. This initiative allows users, including tool manufacturers, data portals, and distributors, to independently retrieve product information and integrate it more rapidly into their own applications.

The Asset Administration Shell serves as a standardized data container and a foundation for digital twins, ensuring that product information is structured in a uniform, machine-readable format across different manufacturers. This enables automated data utilization throughout value chains, specifically within engineering tools, PLM systems, asset management applications, and digital product portals.

Access is provided through the Phoenix Contact API Developer Portal, where authorized users can request access to documented interfaces. The API DT4I AAS focuses on technical data and handover documentation, adhering to the international IEC 63278-1 standard. This support for industrial data standardization aims to help companies process product information more efficiently and consistently in digital environments.
